Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Not for Christmas, although that's good, too. No, let it snow so we can ski. Near mountain resorts from East coast to West, from Connecticut to Colorado, snowboarders and downhill skiers are getting ready for the coming winter. Early bookers take note; ski ranges all over the U.S.A have money saving deals.

A great resource for winter wonderland travelers, Intrawest(tel. 604/904-9300; www.intrawest.com) owns ski resorts and mountain "playgrounds" worldwide. Their website provides links to their mountain resorts and "Hot Deals" for early and late season discounted vacation packages. The "Special Offers" page (www.intrawest.com/offers/index.asp) provides quick access to great deals at leading ski resorts.

Stratton Mountain (tel. 800/787-2886; www.stratton.com/deals/winter-vacations/index.htm), an Intrawest resort, has winter deals for holiday travelers and people looking to get an early jump on what meteorologists and almanacs are predicting will be a cold year. A Thanksgiving deal to one of Vermont's best ski resorts includes one free day skiing and one free night when you book from a Thursday to Sunday for Thanksgiving weekend. The deal gives you Wednesday night for free and a full day of skiing on Thursday. It's available from November 23 to November 27, 2005 with a minimum stay of four nights. The package is per person, per day with a double occupancy hotel booking. An early winter weekend package starts at $79 per night for lodging and lift tickets for off-mountain lodging and $99 per person for on-mountain properties. The deal is available from December 2, 2005 to April 9, 2006.

Intrawest also has specials to mountains out west. Early season deals to Winter Park, Colorado (tel. 800/979-0332; www.skiwinterpark.com/deals/packages/index.htm) are low priced for seasoned skiers and first timers. Good for travel between November 16 and December 16, 2005, this deal includes a choice of lodging which may increase the total price of the package. Beginners should start smiling now. A four-night "Beginner Breakthrough" package includes accommodations, three days of lift tickets, three days equipment rental, and three days of two and half hour lessons for snowboarders or skiers. This deal is based on quadruple occupancy in a two-bedroom condominium good through November 16, 2005 to April 16, 2005.

The site www.ski.com (tel. 800/778-8589) is another resource with links to ski resorts all over the United States.
