Costa Rica is a great destination for anyone who wants to do a little bit of everything in the realm of eco-tourism: hike and bird watch in a rainforest, witness an erupting volcano, relax on the beach and swim, or see some unique water-dwelling creatures, like the sea turtles. Latin Destinations (tel. 866/645-2846; www.latindestinations.com), which runs customizable trips to Latin America, has one that includes eight nights in Latin America: one in San Jose, two in Tortuguero, two in Arenal, and three in Guanacaste, with airfare, transfers (between cities and hotel-to-airport), daily breakfast, and hotel taxes.
It's a sample trip; your itinerary may vary depending on the kind of hotels you select or if you change the number of nights in each destination. Your package price will vary also, of course, depending on when you want to travel and where you're departing from, too. For example, you might want to stay longer in culturally diverse Tortuguero and spend time in the national park, or you might opt for an extra day in Arenal to see -- if you're lucky -- its active volcano. Beach lovers may want to position themselves mostly in Guanacaste on the north coast, known for its 100 miles of beaches, with shorter excursions to these other destinations.
