The organization that created the first Van Gogh light show is behind this permanent attraction, which opened in a historic bank building in 2022. I have mixed feelings about these types of entertainments; it seems counterintuitive to go to a high-tech slide show about a famous artist when works by that artist can usually be seen in person in NYC. But the first of the Hall’s offerings, a show on Gustave Klimt, was so rapturously beautiful, with such finely choreographed art “reveals”, and such perfect musical accompaniment, that I found myself swept away. It was a centering, deeply pleasurable show to watch. Here’s hoping its future offerings (they change every 3 months) are as well crafted.
