Air France Offers A Warm Blanket of Savings for Early Purchases for Fall and Winter Fares

To celebrate its one-year anniversary as a publicly held company on the New York Stock Exchange, Air France (tel. 800/237-2747; www.airfrance.us) is having a doozy of a sale. The lowest priced round-trip ticket starts from just $299 for flights to Paris out of several US cities.

Departures are valid from November 1 all the way through March 31, 2006, but you must book by no later than this Sunday, March 15. As an added incentive, you pay just $5.05 extra to journey on to either Bordeaux, Lyons, Marseilles, Nice or Toulouse. To go even farther afield to points outside of France -- including Barcelona, Florence, Geneva, Lisbon, Milan, Rome, Venice and Zurich -- you pay an additional $50.05. Why that scheme? The carrier was listed on May 5, 2004 (get it? 5/5) on the NYSE.

Roundtrip base fare samples include

  • $299 out of Boston, NYC, Philadelphia & Washington, D.C.
  • $399 out of Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit & Miami
  • $499 out of Houston, Los Angeles & San Francisco

The carrier claims to have no blackout dates, and, indeed, we couldn't block these deals when running random sample checks. Depending upon your points of departure and arrival, additional taxes and security fees range from about $85 up to $135. Click here for the full details on the promotion.
