Bet Your Bottom Dollar on Cheap Vegas Vacations

We round up a the latest, most affordable air and hotel packages to Sin City.

Las Vegas lovers lookout. With the baseball pennant race winding down and football season gearing up, the Sports Books in the casinos look to bank more cheers than jeers. The golf courses are crowded. The powers that be recently allowed hand-held gambling machines by the already fun-filled swimming pools. And now the travel deals have got even better.

Southwest Vacations (tel. 800/243-8372; www.swavacations.com) has two-night air and hotel packages for prices as low as $84. (And no, that's not just from nearby Los Angeles, either.) With travel good from July 11 to September 30, 2005, these trips are available from fourteen different cities including El Paso, Albuquerque, Burbank, Ontario, Phoenix, and Reno. You just need to book by July 14, 2005 to lock in the prices. For travel between August 1 and August 30, 2005, the two night-package to Vegas with accommodations at the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Tower--home to the tallest building in the United States west of the Mississippi and the world's tallest roller coaster -- starts at $89 from San Diego with Monday or Tuesday. The same two-night package at the ultra-deluxe Bellagio goes for $249 with airfare and accommodation with Monday or Tuesday departures for travel good from July 18 to July 19, 2005, August 1 to August 23, 2005 and August 30 to September 13, 2005. Prices are per person based on double occupancy hotel lodging. Air taxes and security fees are additional.

From Milwaukee, a two-night Vegas trip good for travel till August 31, 2005 with air and accommodations at the Four Queens Casino and Hotel starts at $214. Book your trip at Northwest Airlines World Vacation (tel. 800/800-1504; www.nwaworldvacations.com). While no deadline was listed, booking quickly will ensure availability.

Worry Free Vacations (tel. 888/225-5658; www.worryfreevacations.com), the other packaging arm of Northwest Airlines, has deals to Vegas as well, including packages to hotelier Steve Wynn's new Vegas hotspot, Wynn Las Vegas (tel. 888/320-WYNN, www.wynnlasvegas.com). In case you don't know, Wynn Las Vegas is the $2.7 billion country club, golf, and deluxe celebrity residences that just opened in late April. It's Vegas' newest showcase, the new crown jewel of the famous Las Vegas strip. The resort has waterfalls, a full-service Ferrari dealership, and a serene botanical gardens. Through Worry Free Vacations, you can get a four-night air and hotel package deal out of St. Louis starting at $719. Departures are on Sunday and Mondays only through the end of August. When last checked, spaces were limited on flights as this deal is selling out.

For other deals to Wynn Las Vegas, United Airlines Vacations (tel. 800/377-1816; www.unitedvacations.com) has deals with accommodations in several different room types. From Los Angeles, Fresno, San Francisco or San Diego, a two-night package to Wynn Las Vegas starts at $374 for a resort room and goes up to $499 for a Tower Suite. Add $80 for travel from Seattle, Sioux Falls, Billings, and Fargo. You need to book quickly as travel started June 7 for this stellar deal to Vegas' newest icon. United Vacations also has some last minute deals to Vegas such as a two-night trip from Fresno for $154 with air and accommodations at the Imperial Palace Hotel. Travel is good from July 1 to August 31, 2005. See the site for details.
