Getting home from the airport may just have gotten cheaper and easier. Last week, car-sharing firm Zipcar (www.zipcar.com) announced that it will parking vehicles at major airports around North America. If you book in advance online, you can skip car rental lines and head directly to the parking lot.
This new development could drop the cost of getting back from the airport significantly, as Zipcar will allow one-way rentals from the airport to its drop-off locations major urban centers for between $9 and $12 an hour, no extra fees included. (The price will vary by renting plan, location and vehicle type.)
The program was tested at the 3 major New York City airports last month and next month it will expand to Los Angeles; San Jose; Atlanta; Austin; Philadelphia; Phoenix; Palm Beach; and Toronto.
