Tips from the Publisher: Hotel Guest Habits

A recent poll pulls back the sheets and uncovers the behaviors and attitudes of hotel visitors.

Size matters. According to a poll conducted by the Scotland-based All-Hotels.com web site, women are more likely than men to complain about the size of their hotel room.

Other interesting results from this poll: 20% of American men confessed to sleeping nude in hotel rooms, as compared to 40% of European men. What this means I shudder to think.

Can you guess the Number One complaint of hotel guests? Probably not. It's the poor quality of toilet paper. Difficulty in controlling the room temperature is the second most frequent complaint.

Have you ever taken something from a hotel room upon your departure? You're not alone. Seventy-two percent of Americans admitted to taking something, from toiletries to towels, ashtrays, irons and linens.

Forty-percent of Americans call home from their hotel rooms, according to this poll, and 19% of women call their mothers. Twice as many women as men enjoy ordering from room service. And women are twice as likely as men to check out the mini-bar.
