Romancing All Year at a Boutique Hotel

Forget the Valentine's Day rush to prove your sincerity--grab on to a "romance package" anytime during the year at one of 26 Kimpton Boutique Hotels across the country, and the Object of Your Affection will thank you for quite a while, no doubt. The deals include, at a minimum, one night's lodging for two and continental breakfast, plus a variety of add-ons that make each package a little different from the others. Prices for two start at $159 and go upwards. Here, we'll lay out the scoop on only the 12 U.S. hotels who are charging less than $200 per couple per night. Prices do not include taxes, and there are higher-priced rooms and suites available at many properties. A spokesperson for the hotels said the programs are "ongoing" throughout the year, but couldn't be more specific about how long they would last, so be sure to contact each place well ahead of time.

Across the country, consider these spots: $159 for the Romance Package at the 5th Avenue Suites in Portland OR, with rose petals on the bed, bottle of champagne on arrival, breakfast in bed, free valet parking and late checkout at 2 PM. In Chicago at the Hotel Allegro, $159 gets you the Love Shack package at $159 with bottle of champagne, bowl of strawberries and large can of whipped cream.

At the new Hotel Helix in Washington, D.C., the Twist & Shout Package, priced at $169, includes a signature cocktail, an in-room movie, dinner for two in the Helix Lounge, a game of Twister and massage oil. In sometimes chilly Chicago, the Baby It's Cold Outside package goes for $179 at the Hotel Monaco, including a bottle of wine, breakfast in bed and a special gift.

The Simply Romantic package at the Cypress Hotel in Cupertino CA is priced at $180, with champagne and truffles delivered upon arrival, rose petals on the bed, your breakfast from either room service or at the restaurant, a keepsake book of love poems and free valet parking. The Vintage Plaza in Portland OR has a You're the Star package, priced at $199, offering champagne (or sparkling cider) at turndown, rose petals on the bed, valet parking and a certificate with the name of your "star," the dedication date and a celestial map showing the location of your star in our galaxy.

In San Francisco, home of the Kimpton Group, six hotels have packages under $200 a night. At the Hotel Vintage Court, it's A Jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread and Thou package, for $159, with an in-room picnic basket complete with loaf of French bread, cheese, salami and a bottle of wine.

The Hotel Cosmo has a Cosmic Romance package, priced at $169, with chilled champagne or cider, chocolates at turn down, and valet parking. The same price will get you a Sex in the City package at the Triton, with a bubble bath, moonlight massage oil, lip balm, love poems, tickle-me feather and free parking (a $30 value).

At the Hotel Juliana, the Diner & a Movie package is priced at $179 and includes a $50 food credit at Malisa restaurant, an in-room movie, evening wine reception and late check out at 1 PM. The Do Not Disturb package at the Harbor Court is priced at $185, which gets you champagne and chocolates upon a arrival, an in-room movie and breakfast in bed. Also: free use of the YMCA health club next door, an evening fireside wine reception and coffee, tea and apples served throughout the day.

Romance at the Park is the package name at the Galleria Park Hotel, priced at $189, with a bottle of champagne, a box of Belgian chocolates, a $50 voucher to be used at any of four restaurants, and free parking.
