Taste Ireland This Fall, From $698

You've had your summer vacation already, or you're thinking of waiting until fall, toughing out the hot weather the better to savor the colorful ambience of autumn, perhaps even the cooler air. So, check out CIE Tours International, which is offering a six-day/four-night Taste of Ireland trip, fully escorted and including roundtrip flights from New York (JFK), Boston or Baltimore Washington (BWI). Prices start at just $698, including airfare, hotels, meals, sightseeing, entertainment and more. From Chicago, the same thing starts at $780 per person, sharing a double room.

The dates are from October 15 through December 5 and again from February 6 through April 29, 2003. Most departures are on Thursdays, with return flights to the USA on Tuesdays, making this an ideal long weekend.

Elaborating on what's included in the price--fully escorted sightseeing on a bus, superior and first-class hotel accommodations with private bath/shower for four nights, full Irish breakfasts daily (seconds on the oatmeal, anyone?), four dinners including a medieval banquet and entertainment at Bunratty Castle and a dinner/cabaret at the Abbey Tavern in Dublin. Also, a welcome drink, tea and scones at an Irish sheep farm, a horse-drawn jaunting car ride in Killarney, a ferry ride across the Shannon, flight bag, ticket wallet, luggage tags, all taxes and hotel service charges.

The itinerary takes in many of Ireland's highlights, starting in Dublin with a tour led by a local guide, then to Blarney, Killarney, the Ring of Kerry, the Clare Coast and the Cliffs of Moher. Admission to the following is also included: St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin Castle, Blarney Castle and a guided tour of Muckross House.
