That's Super, Man! A Tuscan Fortress of Solitude, Air, Land and Car from Under $125 per Night

The 13th-century Castello di Garganzo, nestled in the Tuscan hills near Siena, Florence and Pisa, is up for grabs for weeklong stays in January and February from as little as $738 per person when four people stay together. This price gets you airfare out of New York City, a station wagon or better as a rental car with unlimited miles and insurance, self-catering accommodations, all taxes and fees and a guide book of the area. (Of course, we recommend our own Frommer's Tuscany and Umbria, which you can find in our online bookstore by clicking here.) Your accommodations are one of 25 two-floor apartments that compose the majority of this ancient, walled-village. Apartments feature cozy stone fireplaces, a kitchen, two and three bedrooms, sitting areas, living rooms and views. The same spaces are available for only two people as well with your cost going up to $938 per person, still well within a budget traveler's limits. A 5% discount is offered for stays of two weeks or longer. Land-only prices, meaning airfare is not included start from $339 per person. All stays begin on Saturdays.
