Dive into this Deal: A Week in the Caribbean for Under a Grand Including Lodging and Daily Underwater Excursions

Those nice people at Grenada's absolutely charming Blue Horizons Cottage Hotel have teamed up with a bunch of aquanauts to create a good value-for-money dive package that looks irresistible.

For as little as $888 off season (April 16 to December 15, 2003) or $1,024 high season (December 16, 2002 through April 15, 2003), you get seven nights' lodging in a deluxe one-bedroom suite (with kitchenette, cable TV, phone, radio, in-room safe, air-conditioner, ceiling fan, iron and its board); five dive days including the tanks and weights for diving with two daily departures; boat trips to wrecks or reefs (refreshments on dive boats also included); services of an experienced guide, roundtrip airport/hotel transfers; non-powered watersports; beach chaise lounges (available at a sister property, the much costlier Spice Island Beach Resort, just 300 yards away); welcome drink; service charge and government taxes. Whew! All this is called Value Pack Dive Vacation Option A.

Pay less than $200 more for their Value Pack Dive Vacation Option B, and the opportunities for fun increase: in addition to all the above, you get a third boat dive daily; and a full-day sightseeing tour with lunch at a plantation house and rum tasting. The cost from December 16, 2002 to April 15, 2003 is $1,199 per person, from April 16 through December 15, 2003, $1,063 per person.

All costs are per person sharing a double suite. There are surcharges for either option if you want to dive at night or take a day trip to off-shore islands. To encourage groups, the hotel will provide one dive package free when five rooms (single or double) are booked. Additionally, groups of ten or more who book Option B will receive a BBQ evening poolside dinner, highlighted by a slide show of the groups' underwater adventures.

Aquanauts Grenada Ltd. is a full-service PADI operation, with two dive boats (31 feet for 16 divers and 42 feet for 20 divers), each featuring a dive platform with ladder, DAN oxygen units, sun deck, cabin or shade, freshwater shower and more.
