The town is linked by rail to both Shrewsbury and Hereford (in England) and to Newport, a distance of 31km (19 miles) to the southwest, in Wales. From Newport, rail connections are made to Cardiff, Bristol, and London. The Abergavenny Rail Station is on Station Road, off Monmouth Road.
