A honeymoon-worthy spot, this resort is made up of lovely, Caribbean-style plantation villas—with cathedral ceilings, peaked tin roofs, courtyards, and verandas—spread along a 35-acre (14-hectare) beachfront plot with two pools, a 3-mile (4.8km) beach, and surrounding tropical forests. Villas are boutique chic, with a muted color palette enlivened by pops of color, terra cotta tile, and luxe hacienda–style furnishings. The grounds are covered with towering trees, explosions of tropical flora, and endangered Puerto Rican parrots and other exotic birds. The resort’s Eclipse Restaurant is one of the best in all Puerto Rico, with an open dining room overlooking the beach and forged from wood, stone, and other natural materials. It serves excellent wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, juicy steaks, and delectable seafood risotto, among other gourmet offerings. For those who don’t want to just tan (or head to the lovely spa), the resort offers a full roster of activities from horseback riding to biking to every watersport you can imagine, with a surf break on site. Guests also hike through tropical forests or use the climbing wall on the property.
