It’s a strong claim, but the devotees of this 35-plus year old restaurant claim it serves the best hummus in the Middle East. Clearly the folks who line up outside the door every day agree, and I think you will too after you taste the tangy, creamy hummus that’s hand mashed here and seasoned with just the right amount of cumin. The other specialty here is makhlouta, a Lebanese stew made with carmelized onions, lentils, chickpeas, rice, cracked and whole wheat and pinto beans, and it, too, is scrumptious.
