Alcala de Henares has a number of good attractions, but we’ve chosen the ones that we think will truly enhance your trip.

You can easily explore Alcalá on foot in a day. The stone and red-brick Renaissance buildings of the old town are all close at hand. The city was badly damaged in the Civil War and many art treasures were lost, but extensive renovation means many of the buildings look almost new. Look out for the 90 pairs of storks that nest on nearly every bell tower and rooftop throughout much of the year.
