Getting There

Alicante's Internacional El Altet Airport (tel. 96-691-90-00) is 19km (12 miles) from the city. There are as many as 11 daily flights from Madrid, about 3 flights per week from Seville, and 3 weekly flights from Barcelona. Fifteen buses daily connect the city to the airport; the fare is 1.50€. The Iberia Airlines ticket office (tel. 90-240-05-00; www.iberia.com) is at the airport.

Twelve trains a day make the 2-hour trip from Valencia. Eight trains a day come from Barcelona (trip time: 3-6 hr.), and 12 a day from Madrid (trip time: 4 hr.). The RENFE office is at Estación Alicante, Avenida Salamanca (tel. 90-224-02-02; www.renfe.es).

Different bus lines from various parts of the coast converge at the terminus, Calle Portugal 17 (tel. 96-513-07-00). There is almost hourly service from Benidorm and from Valencia (trip time: 4 hr.). Buses also run from Madrid, a 5- to 6-hour trip.

To drive here, take the E-15 expressway south along the coast from Valencia. The expressway and N-340 run northeast from Murcia.

Valearia runs three ferries a day to and from Ibiza (trip time: 4 hr.), departing from Estació Marítim, Puerto de Denia (tel. 96-642-86-00).

Visitor Information

The tourist information office is at Rambla de Mendez Núñez (tel. 96-520-00-00; www.comunitatvalenciana.com). It's open Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm, Saturday 10am to 8pm, and Sunday 10am to 2pm.
