Meliã Alicante
All 544 rooms at this ocean-liner-sized beach hotel face outward to look at Playa Postiguet on one side or the spiffy Alicante marina on the other, and each has a small balcony to step out and enjoy the sea air. The hotel was built in 1973, and all rooms are identically sized at 26 sq. m (280 sq. ft.), while the junior suites are all 54 sq. m (580 sq. ft.). The current decor plays up the vast expanses of travertine marble and pops of saturated primary colors in the draperies and bed spreads. For a more luxe experience, you can step up to the Meliã chain’s “The Level” for rooms with somewhat finer finishes, access to a private lounge with open bar, and an elevation that provides even better views.
