The Lasseter Resort and Casino has a surprising elegance for a collection of squat, motel-like two- and three-story buildings. But within these buildings, the rooms (especially those on the third floor), have marvelously high, peaked-ceilings, which give them an airy grace. Above the comfortable beds are handsome aboriginal prints and paintings (originals from Lasseter's collection); and bathrooms are oversized and tiled in dark stone. On the grounds of the Lasseter is an inviting pool area (bright blue and lit at night, it consists of three pools—hot tub, wading area and swimming pool sided by a bar), a guest laundry, two restaurants and a casino (also reviewed on this website). We also have to give kudos for the gym, which is large and well-equipped with brand-new machines and weights.  The hotel is a short, 5-minute drive from the center of Alice Springs or a 15-minute pedal on one of the bikes the hotel loans out for free.
