Ambergris Caye is a popular beach and dive destination, and as such it supports a fairly active nightlife and late-night bar scene. I recommend starting things off at one of the bars built over the water such as the Tackle Box (tel. 226-4313) or the Palapa Bar (tel. 226-2528), both located off the center of town and both featuring live music most nights. Palapa Bar is also a good choice for daytime partying, as guests can sip their drinks in the water while floating on the inner tubes provided.
Alternately, you might try one of the beachside bars such as the Wahoo’s Lounge (tel. 226-2002) at the Spindrift Hotel, which features bingo on Tuesday nights, karaoke on Saturday nights, and the famous chicken drop, an island version of roulette, at 6pm every Thursday night. Another popular choices is Fido's Courtyard (tel. 226-2056), which has live music every night of the week. For a lagoon-front experience, head to Croc’s (tel. 631-3467) just north of the bridge for a sometimes-rowdy but always fun night.
If you're looking for a dance club and late-night action, your best bets are the two traditional San Pedro discos, Jaguar's Temple Club (no phone) and Big Daddy's (no phone), which are within a stone's throw of each other on Barrier Reef Drive, near the basketball court and the church.
Havana Cigars (tel. 226-4576) has an extensive whiskey selection and relaxing lounge area, a favorite place for even non-smokers to socialize. Gamblers will want to head up north to the casino at Captain Morgan’s Retreat (tel. 409/422-6156).
