Pogo’s Kitchen
Named for the 1940’s cartoon possum who would create ‘speshul’ meals for his fellow Florida swamp creatures, Pogo’s appeal is that it is both homemade and high end. From the vinaigrettes to the pastas, everything is made in house, and always from organic, local ingredients. (In fact, the chef has created a market as a side biz, so that home chefs can buy some of the produce, sauces and other goods he creates and sources). As for the atmosphere, it’s not as fancy as Salt (see above), but this isn’t a place you should wander into in flipflops. People come in tony resortwear to enjoy the sleekly woodsy décor, and Pogo’s expertly executed she crab Soup, roasted duck with morrels and farro, and seafood pasta (among other highlights of the menu).
