The Houseboat Museum is found on board the Hendrika Maria, a freighter that was built in 1914, and was busily transporting sand up until the 1960s. A tour won’t take more than 15 minutes as there’s not that much to see but it gives punters the opportunity to glimpse life aboard one of Amsterdam’s 2,500 houseboats. The Hendrika Maria was renovated in 2008 and its inner living spaces reveal a surprisingly roomy timber-roofed living space with box beds, a couple of 1950s armchairs, and a tiny cafe.
