Bicycle Hotel Amsterdam

Homey and basic, the Bicycle Hotel is fiercely proud of its sustainable ethos; it is powered by solar heat, has a “green” roof, and uses recycled furniture wherever possible. The miniscule bedrooms are no great shakes in terms of luxury but are spotlessly clean; be warned, however, that the very cheapest rooms at 50€ don’t have private bathroom. A few have kitchenettes and there are also a couple of triples for families. Amazingly for these prices, a decent Dutch breakfast of bread, ham, and cheese is included in the room rate. Foolhardy guests who choose to explore Amsterdam by bike can rent cycles for 7.50€ per day. There’s no elevator and payment is preferred in cash.
