The quieter accommodations are, naturally, at the back and overlook a pretty courtyard garden but there are trade-offs: the canal-fronting rooms are larger, brighter, and have air-conditioning. Bear in mind that negotiating the steep, narrow staircase can be difficult (though the friendly staff will transport your luggage).
