With a ghetto-fabulous new facelift completed in 2013, the Renaissance has risen phoenix-like from its drab former ashes and now is a standout among the city's soulless business hotels. Tucked away behind an historic facade on a quiet canal just five minutes walk from Centraal Station, the reception and lobby are now funky and welcoming, with a strikingly warm color scheme that continues into the guest rooms with bold, contrasting soft furnishings. The bathrooms are now state of the art, with marble fittings and power showers. On-site facilities include the Mediterranean-style bistro Scossa, a clubby bar kitted out in dark wood, and several meeting rooms in the historic and adjacent Koepelkerk (Dome Church).
