Accessed airside from Lounge 2, near Pier D, Yotel is the perfect sleeping spot for tired travelers with early-morning flights to catch, and it's also one of the few Amsterdam hotels at which booking by the hour does not have a nefarious meaning. Combining quality with modernism, the hotel succeeds in providing decent accommodation at tiny prices and it does this by automising everything from check in to the 24-hour supply of basic snacks and drinks at "Mission Control."

The rooms themselves are reminiscent of sleeping pods aboard a space ship, some with bunk beds, some with doubles, but all equipped with power showers and flat- screen televisions as well as built-in desks on which to perch your laptop. Little extras like luxurious organic bathroom products and crisp Egyptian cotton bedding make the lack of space more palatable.
