A hip hangout in De Pijp, with a sparse, orange-and-brown retro 1970s look, this is a contemporary take on Amsterdam's traditional brown cafes, open all day for a variety of snacks and drinks. With a clientele culled from local residents and young foreign visitors, a good time to hit the place is early evening for fruity cocktails and the really good Thai beef salad. Thursday through Saturday sees live music from local DJs, and there's a terrace for cocktails and supper when the weather's clement. Disappointingly for cocoa addicts, the chocolate theme does not extend beyond the name.
