A casual cafe tucked away down a little alley off Spui, Zeppos offers cheeses, salads, and great pots of mussels by day and feasts of Portuguese mariscos (mixed seafood platter), paella, or Coquille St.-Jacques by night. It’s popular with students from the University of Amsterdam across the street and has a slightly cheesy decor that’s compounded when the equally cheesy 1980s disco music starts up late on weekend nights. There’s live music most evenings (not Sunday) and kitschy sing-alongs around a grand piano the first Sunday brunch of the month in winter.
