Dimond Center Hotel
Owned by the Seldovia Native Association, and built with the goal of creating a welcoming place for members to stay when visiting Alaska's most important city, the Dimond Center is an unusually comfortable hotel. Rooms have such niceties as deep soaking tubs, Keurig coffee makers, and high quality mattresses. The public areas are very pleasant and include a lovely outdoor area for relaxation and a state–of–the–art gym. The location, on the edge of Anchorage but right near a major mall and a slew of big box stores, also points to the origin of the hotel: the founders knew their members would be doing some serious shopping when they came in to Anchorage. That's not what most out-of-state visitors want, however, the location does put guests near the Seward Highway and a short drive from Chugach State Park, which is a convenient base for nature enthusiasts.
