Tamara’s On the Go
Unfortunately the hurricane wiped out the brick-and-mortar version of this fabulous restaurant founded by late former Venezuelan investigative journalist turned chef Tamara Suarez. But Suarez’s daughter and chef son-in-law continue the legacy with a food truck that serves some of Suarez’s greatest hits. The menu changes daily, but if they have it, anything with black beans will be outstanding (Venezuelan black-bean soup, black bean chili, or the shredded beef with black beans and yellow rice). Southern and Cajun faves like Cajun shrimp rolls and Creole pasta are also quite good, and often on the menu.
