If You Have Only 1 Day
Arches is one of the easiest national parks to see in a day if that's all you can spare. A scenic drive offers splendid views of natural rock arches and other formations, and several easy hikes open up additional scenery. The drive is 18 miles one-way, plus 5 miles for a side trip to The Windows and 4 1/2 miles for a side trip to Delicate Arch.
Start at the visitor center, and ask rangers for their suggestions for a short hike so you can get a close-up view of some of the arches. Possibilities include the short, easy hike to Double Arch and the longer and sometimes hot hike to Delicate Arch. If you're up for a more strenuous excursion, and the timing's right, join one of the ranger-guided hikes to Fiery Furnace.
