This parador occupies the catbird seat in Arcos, holding down one side of the Plaza del Cabildo. Once the headquarters of the king’s magistrate, the 18th-century building was completed renovated to make the wing hanging over the cliff into modern hotel rooms with terraces that overlook the fertile plain of the Río Guadalete—the same river that flows from the mountains around Grazalema all the way to El Puerto de Santa María. The few rooms that overlook the Plaza del Cabildo are larger and more old-fashioned, yet are in least demand.
