Local flavors are prepared with imaginative flair at this excellent restaurant just a mile from the Slieve Donard Spa and Resort. Mussels fresh from Strangford Lough are a simple but choice lead-in to a dish of coley (a fish similar to cod) cooked with chorizo risotto and red pepper caramel, or lamb with hazelnut puree and samphire. This is the kind of place where you’ll witness a sea of cellphones taking photos of each course before commencing demolition of the artfully perfect arrangements on the plate. The early evening menu is a bargain—2 courses for just £17, or 3 for £19—served until 7:30pm on Wednesday to Friday. Another money-saving tip: Main dishes at lunchtime generally cost a half, or even a third, of what you’ll pay in the evening.
