The colonnaded Hôtel Jules César has long been one of Arles’ landmark hotels, with a prestigious guest book that includes Pablo Picasso. The former 17th-century convent has been entirely renovated, a project undertaken in collaboration with born and bred local designer Christian Lacroix. Today, the hotel’s rooms and suites are thoroughly refreshed, with Lacroix focusing on rustic decor inspired by the nearby Camargue region. The top-notch Lou Marquès restaurant, serving classic Provençal cuisine, is also on site. The hotel’s location, opposite the Old Town and next door to the tourist office, is ideal for easy access to Arles’ major sights.
