For those who want to save money, here's a tip: Drive south from Manchester Village on Rte. 7A. As you leave town and roll through the flat farmlands, you'll come upon a number of budget choices, including the barn-red North Shire Motel (tel. 888/339-2336 or 802/362-2336), which seems to keep guests happy, and some 1950s-era, family-owned motor court-style motels and cottages scattered along the way.
