Don't be confused by the presence of a building known as the Spielcasino, within the Kursaal, on Poststrasse. Despite the implications of its name, there's no casino inside -- it functions as a somewhat desultory and low-key venue for some shops, restaurants, and bars, having closed its gambling facilities several years ago. One of its highlights is its disco, Nuts (tel. 081/377-39-40; www.disconuts.ch), a glossily modern haven for drinkers and dancers that's open every day in midsummer and midwinter between 9:30pm and at least 3am. Entrance costs around 10F per person. Expect a crowd of seasonal visitors ages 18 to 55, some energetic dancing, and a lot of voyeuristic ogling of the attractive and fit bodies that venture onto the dance floor.
Another amusing after-dark choice is the Kitchen Klub of the Hotel Eden (tel. 081/378-71-06), in the center of Arosa. This dance club is inside what functioned, at the turn of the 20th century, as an actual kitchen. The old pots and pans are still there. This place starts to fill up after dinner, and the DJ, sitting on top of old refrigerators, keeps the music lively. Entrance costs 10F per person. It's open every night from 7:30pm, but only in winter, between December and early April. The Hotel Obersee, Aussere Poststrasse (tel. 081/377-12-16), has an attractive restaurant and a warm and convivial bar that from time to time focuses on the music produced by live bands, but because their schedules are erratic, it's best to phone before you head over there.
The Post Hotel, on Poststrasse, offers a handful of stubes, a pizzeria, and the Crazy Club (tel. 081/377-13-13), where drinks flow and a cabaret act features attractive women who strip in ways that tease and titillate but rarely get really down and dirty. The club is in the same building as the Hotel Eden but under separate management. A sometime competitor, offering cabaret only during midwinter's high season, most nights between 9pm and 3am, is an area known as "the Lounge" in the Hotel Seehof (tel. 081/377-15-41), which is otherwise just a quiet and rather conventional bar. Entrance to both sites is free.
Finally, you can drop in to the bar of the also-recommended restaurant, Cuculouche, on Unterseestrasse (tel. 081/377-55-05), for a sunset-colored cocktail whose ingredients include tequila, mango, strawberries, and more.
