In 2008, Rolling Stone named The Orange Peel one of the top 5 rock clubs in the nation. It's still a smoking ' place to hear concerts. Part of the appeal comes from the intimacy of the Orange Peel: the capacity for each show is a little more than 1,000 people (and most shows are standing room only, so don’t expect a seat.) You can expect, however, pizza available from the Asheville Pizza Company, an assortment of beverages, and an enthusiastic crowd. In 2014, the acts who played here included The Zombies (with a guest appearance from Pat Sansone of Wilco), Houndmouth, Neko Case and Lucinda Williams. The Peel is also home to an annual burlesque and side-show festival.
