AsunciĆ³n has plenty of street stalls and corner bars selling empanadas and chipas (a type of cheese bread made from yuca flour or cornflower). More upmarket restaurants offer the delicious river fish, surubi, in countless varieties. The downtown area does not have a great quantity of gourmet-style eateries. Instead, many are located in the Villa Morra district. Parrillas (grill houses) are plentiful, though the meat can vary in quality.
