Planning a trip to Attersee

Getting There -- Attersee lies at the terminus of a small railway running from the junction of Vöcklamarkt, just less than 14km (9 miles) to the north (about a dozen trains make the short run from Vöcklamarkt to Attersee every day). Reaching Vöcklamarkt is easy, as rapid trains stop there every 2 hours or less from both Salzburg and Linz. For rail information, contact tel. 05/1717 (www.oebb.at). Attersee is not served by bus lines. If you're driving from Linz, head west along the A-1; from Salzburg, go east on the A-1.

Visitor Information -- The tourist office, A-4864 Attersee (tel. 07666/62324070; www.attersee.at), is in the town center. It's open in winter Monday to Friday 9am to noon and 2 to 5pm; in summer daily 9am to 6pm.
