St. Ulrich und St. Afra Kirche
This pair of adjoining churches commemorates the 1555 Peace of Augsburg, which recognized two denominations. Lutheran St. Ulrich occupies the assembly hall of a converted monastery and Catholic St. Afra is the more elaborate, with a magnificent altar. The two namesake saints—Ulrich was a prince-bishop and Afra a virgin martyr—spend eternity next to each other in the shared crypt.
