In deference to the victims of the camp and because of efforts to limit the commercialization of Auschwitz, there are few places to eat or stay within easy walking distance of the main museum. There's a small, substandard canteen just to the right of the main entrance where you can get soup and sausages. Across the street, near one of the main parking areas, is a small strip of generic fast-food outlets that serve hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, and pizza that will do in a pinch. For something better, you'll have to drive, walk, or take a taxi.
