Set on a bluff with a view of downtown, Barton Creek has a wide-ranging collection of more than 180 shops, anchored by Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Macy’s, Sears, and JCPenney. One of the earliest of Austin’s high-end malls, it’s kept up with the times, but it had more distinctive character before it was taken over by mall overlord Simon Property Group. It’s probably the kid-friendliest mall in town, with its 14-plex movie theater, Disney Jr. Play Zone, and lots of casual dining options. One of the city’s few enclosed malls, it’s a comfortable place to shop when it’s hot outdoors.
