Château de Vault de Lugny
This fairytale château is the place to stay if you want to feel like a king or queen for a few days. In fact, there is even a suite called “Le Roy,” which was set aside for the kings of France, complete with monumental fireplace, four-poster bed, double bath tub, and Gothic chairs; the other rooms are a bit more sedate, and two are in a cottage. The grounds offer plenty to do, from exploring the parkland to taking a dip in the indoor pool, located in the vaulted cellar, or booking a wine tasting. The restaurant, which marries French cuisine with Mauritian influences (the chef was born in Mauritius) and has had a Michelin star since 2019, is housed in the 17th-century former kitchen. And, of course, the wine list is composed of the best vintages from the region.
