Duomo
This 12th-century church was redone and added to in following centuries. The elegant facade is neoclassical, as are the decorations inside. The cathedral holds many masterpieces, including a beautiful tabernacle by Giovanni da Nola that you can admire in the chapel to the right of the main one. Also take note of the 16th-century carved choir at the back of the church, in the apse. Under the Duomo, you'll find the Cripta dell'Addolorata, or Church of Santa Maria dei Sette Dolori. It was created in the 17th century by adding a nave to the original Romanesque crypt and is decorated with frescoes and with Roman and medieval capitals. From the presbytery, you can access the courtyard, where you can see remains of the original Longobard church and the partially restored Romanesque bell tower, decorated with Roman marble inscriptions from Abellinum.
