Getting There

The Baccalieu Trail is composed of routes 80, 70, and 60. The entire detour to Bay de Verde and back from the Trans-Canada Highway is about 225 to 240km (140 or 150 miles), or 5 hours driving.

Visitor Information

The provincial Visitor Information Center (tel. 709/759-2170) is located on the Trans-Canada Highway just west of Route 80 in Whitbourne, near one of two turnoff points for the Trail. It's open daily from mid-May through September. The local tourism agency, the Northern Avalon Tourism Association (tel. 709/596-3474), operates out of an office in Carbonear and maintains a useful local tourism website. Look for it on the web at www.baccalieutourism.com.
