I recommend staying at one of the hotels on the edge of town to take advantage of the space and the quiet there. All the hotels that I've listed will pick you up at the bus station if you let them know in advance when you're coming in. You might also want to try the Oasis Panorama (tel. 02/38473354). Located on a plateau at the edge of town. It was engulfed in construction chaos at the time of writing, but the rooms should be nice when it's complete.
Note that many of these hotels do not have air-conditioning in all their rooms. Read the listing information carefully, and specify clearly if you are booking ahead. At the same time keep in mind that you may not need it: temperatures in the desert drop substantially at night, and even during the heat of the summer, the nighttime temperatures can be quite bearable.
