The Hippodrome Theatre
Located at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, this restored former vaudeville venue, built in 1914, now stages national Broadway shows. Orchestra seats and front balcony seats are good, but pass up the back rows of the balcony, unless it's a show you absolutely have to see. A cafe serves light fare, but it's usually crowded; arrive early or eat somewhere else downtown before heading to the theater.
