Before identical German twins Thomas and Mathias Sühring (lovingly known as ‘The Twins’) came around, German fare in Bangkok was represented only by the sub-par schnitzel served at beer pubs around Silom Road. Today, The Twins are introducing an elevated version of that cuisine, playful lighter dishes that make use of high-quality produce and artful plating. Delicious spätzle (a German pasta) is a highlight, as is a dish called “heaven and earth” that combines potatoes, black pudding, and green apple. A la carte menus are offered Monday through Thursday. On the weekend, only the eight- or 12-course tasting menu are available: “Klassikier” showcases classic favorites while “Erlebnis” mixes classics with more creative interpretations. Meals are served in a handsome townhouse. The wine list is outstanding.
