Like several other successful restaurants in Bangkok, Taling Pling has begun to branch out and now has six locations around the city. The original one off Silom Road has now closed and a new one has opened on Sukhumvit Soi 34, while all the others are in shopping malls. The Sukhumvit place has modern decor and a homey feel, and a comprehensive menu of Thai favorites is served. For something a bit different, try the crab and pork dip, with raw vegetables to dip in the thick mix, or go for the winged bean salad; like all spicy Thai salads, it's a taste explosion of fried garlic, chili, lime, and in this case crunchy beans. The fact that its clientele are more Thai than foreign is a good indication that the cuisine here is authentic and not toned down as in many places that cater predominantly to foreigners.
