Now into its second generation of O’Hara family management, the Coral Reef Club remains one of the best and most luxurious five-star hotels on the island. This collection of coral-stone cottages sits on 12 lush, landscaped acres leading past two pools and an indoor-outdoor restaurant to a white sand beach. Guest accommodations vary, but are all done in airy, spacious whites, wickers, and wood accents for a true island feel. Garden rooms and Cottages and Superior Junior Suites are all garden view; for a sea view, you need to upgrade to at least a Luxury Junior Suite. Luxury Cottages (ground floor), Luxury Suites (first floor), and Plantation Suites (with lovely furnishings and four-poster beds) each have separate dressing rooms and patios with private plunge pools. (There are also two private villas sharing a pool—one with three bedrooms, one with four—where guests can have their own kitchen and private area but still take advantage of the hotel’s amenities.) Coral Reef Club is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and takes its refinement seriously: No shorts, T-shirts, or faded/torn jeans in the restaurant in the evenings, and no children under 12 from mid-January through February.
