Direkte

Having relocated from a cramped space behind La Boqueria market to a smart Japanese-style bar in Eixample, Direkte remains one of Barcelona’s hot tickets. Chef Arnau Muñío ingeniously fuses classic Catalan cuisine with Asian flavors. Two trust-the-chef menus are offered, with either 7 or 10 courses (plus two desserts), based on what’s available at the market. You might get tuna tataki with cherries and wasabi leaves, or a gyoza dumpling in a traditional Catalan cap i pota (head-to-toe veal stew) sauce. Dessert is sure to include smoked matcha cheesecake, one of Muñío’s signature dishes. There are just two lunch and dinner sittings, so reservations are essential.
